Passion
I’ve got a passion. It’s called peace.
I believe that increasing global computation capacity is a good thing. Computation can be used to simulate and model reality in order to try to predict outcomes given sets of choices available and conditions that may or may not be under our control.
If we propose something we can model it and see what happens in a variety of configurations and conditions. Does it have the desired outcome? Does it have desirable or undesirable side effects? We can experiment before taking action in the physical world.
I believe we should use computation to minimize violence, maximize agency, minimize scarcity and I believe this should increase happiness and self fulfillment and reduce suffering. I believe this would lead to peace.
This type of virtual experimentation should be available to all to help people make better decisions. It wouldn’t be perfect but it could help.
